E.D. White’s senior quarterback has the chance to play his college football close to home.
Cardinals quarterback Grant Barbera posted on social media that he has received the opportunity to play at Nicholls – his hometown school.
Barbera had 15 passing touchdowns and 9 rushing touchdowns this past season as a junior, while also missing a little time with a mid-season illness. Barbera led the Cardinals to the Division II Select State Championship Game.
The Cardinals operate a run-first triple-option offense, but Barbera’s skills have moved the Cardinals to spread the field more. He had 1,104 passing yards and can put the ball accurately down the field on a dot into tight coverage windows.
Barbera is also an elite athlete, owning a 4.7 40-yard dash time and a quality student with a 3.7 GPA.
He is expected to be one of the top players in our area for the 2025 season.
Coach Kyle Lasseigne said he is so excited for his quarterback, who he said has worked super hard to get to this point.
“ I can’t even explain how deserving this young man is,” Lasseigne said. “Love this for him, our team and his future!”
