A Central Lafourche High School graduate and collegiate basketball player is parlaying his freshman success into a new home.

Guard Evan Griffin announced on social media that he has transferred to Houghton College – an NCAA Division III School in New York.

Griffin earned that spot after a solid season at John Melvin College in Florida where he was routinely one of the team’s leading scorers, including winning Conference Player of the Week during the season.

Griffin is a matchup problem for opponents because he has the handles and ball skills of a guard, but the strength and ability to also guard forwards, if necessary.

Houghton College finished 13-16 last season. Griffin will be arriving hoping to turn that around and get the team to post a winning season.
