Houma Christian football coach Jamar Celestine is going to be accepting another leadership position within the school.
The school announced today that Celestine is going to be the new assistant principal at Houma Christian – a big feather in the cap of the Houma native.
Celestine is the head football coach and head boys’ basketball coach.
In a news release announcing his hiring, the school said that he is the perfect person for this position.
Celestine will move into his role immediately. He will work hand-in-hand with new school principal Bubba Orgeron, who begins with Houma Christian in 2026 after he retires as the Terrebonne Parish Schools Superintendent.
“Mr. Celestine brings a wealth of experience and a heart for student growth to this position,” a release issued by Houma Christian says. “He will continue to oversee student discipline, guiding our students to excellence while holding them accountable with grace and wisdom. Known for his strong relationships with students, Mr. Celestine leads with encouragement, accountability, and unwavering dedication.”
Celestine discussed the decision to become an assistant principal on radio this week, saying that it was an honor to be considered and a show that he is planting roots at Houma Christian and is “in it for the long haul.”
Celestine joined Houma Christian after coaches at several spots around the area. He has enjoyed success on the football side and was also the girls’ basketball coach as recently as last year. He took over the boys this past offseason.
