Out in a neighborhood in Cut Off, locals are bucking the trend. They are putting down the iPads, are picking up the bats and gloves and are playing a little ball.

Silas St. Pierre and his buddies have created the Bayou Blitzball League – a backyard-based blitzball league where locals are getting outside and are staying active while building friendships.

Kids of all ages are welcome to play and the crew has grown. The boys play several times a week. They played today and are expected to, weather permitting, play again tomorrow.

St. Pierre’s parents bought a blitz ball set expecting it to be lost in the wash in today’s electronic age. It has been the most used toy of the entire neighborhood with kids from all over coming to play.

Check out photos from today’s action.
