On this Throwback Thursday, we make a trip down to The Swamp and revisit one of the greats of the Bayou.
Troy Johnson was a South Terrebonne High School standout in the late 1970s and early 1980s – a dominant football player who parlayed his athletic talents into a collegiate career at Southeastern, then Southern University.
Johnson was a receiver, shining with his athleticism, ability to make tough catches and blazing speed.
He played professionally from 1985 into the 1990s, playing in the USFL, NFL, Arena League and then the Canadian Football League.
Johnson is a member of the Bayou Region Athletic Hall of Fame, sponsored by Terrebonne General, and he is widely regarded as one of the greatest Gators of all-time.
