Some of the best track stars in the history of our area wrapped up their careers this past week at the LHSAA Track Meet.

In 2A, Houma Christian School’s Emma Bourg wrapped up her amazing career with another title-winning performance at State, winning the 1,600-meter run and 3,200-meter run to end her storied career. Bourg is a UNO signee and is one of the best track athletes in the state with multiple titles in long distance events.

Also placing in the Top 5 for Houma Christian were Gabriella Delgado, who took 5th in the 1,600 and Brady Sins who finished 2nd in the boys for the 3,200.

In 3A, E.D. White placed all over the map with both their boys’ and girls’ teams finishing 3rd.

Leading that charge was the Cardinals’ 4×800-meter relay team, which won the State Title. Those relay members are Caroline Dietz, Caroline Molaison, Elizabeth Rodrigue and Rylee Methvin.

Elizabeth Hebert also won the State Title in the pole vault.

The Cardinals scored points all over the meet with several boys’ and girls’ earning Top 5 honors.

They include: Benjamin Rodrigue (3rd in triple jump), Jake Agosta (2nd in pole vault), Caroline Molaison (5th in 800-meter run), Emma Ritchie (4th in 3,200-meter run), Elizabeth Rodrigue (2nd in 1,600-meter run), 4×400-meter relay team of Caroline Dietz, Sarah DeGravelle, Elizabeth Rodrigue, and Rylee Methvin (5th place), Anna Marino (4th in pole vault), Nathaniel Thompson (4th in 200-meter dash), Owen Tauzin (5th in 800-meter run), Owen Tauzin (4th in 3,200-meter run), Owen Tauzin (2nd in 1,600 meter run), Noah Diedrich (5th in 1,600 meter run), Noah Diedrich (5th in 3,200 meter run), and 4×800-meter relay team of Max Bourgeois, Joachim Lafaso, Noah Diedrich and Governor Mauer (4th place).

In Class 4A, Vandebilt runner Brynn Kelso ended her storied career with some more title wins.

Kelso won the 2 more championship gold medals, ending her career with 17 state championships. She won the 1,600 meter run and the 3,200 meter run. She narrowly missed out on another gold in the 800 meter run, losing out by .2 seconds to finish 2nd.

Vandebilt did not repeat as State Champions but did have other solid performances. Jaylon Coleman won the 200-meter dash in his sophomore year. The Terriers’ 4×800-meter relay team of Wyatt Bonvillain, Robert Galinsky, Elijah Hunter and Avery Morgan won the state title.

Placing in the Top 5 were: 4×800-meter relay team of Logan Hamilton, Kate Magee, Charlotte Chesnut and Olivia Hatch (placed 3rd), Jaylon Coleman (3rd in 100 meter dash), Avery Morgan (2nd in 1,600 meter run), Elijah Hunter (4th in 800-meter run), Alex Castell (2nd in 300 meter hurdles), Sam Kinnard (2nd in javelin).

In Class 4A, a couple of South Lafourche throwers placed in the Top 5, both still underclassmen. Ava Boura finished 5th in the shot put, while Claire Rebstock finished 5th in the discus.

In 5A, Central Lafourche had some competitors finish in the top 5. Samuel Hodson finished 4th in the 400-meter run. Kaden Adams finished 5th in the shot put.
