The Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association named their All-State Teams today, lists that are filled with several local players who earned high honors.

The LBCA released the teams last night, showcasing the top players in the state and officially capping the 2023 prep baseball season.

In Class 4A, our area is well represented with both the Pitcher of the Year and Co-Coach of the Year.

Vandebilt’s James Guidry, a sophomore ace, won Pitcher of the Year in 4A after a dominant season on the mound for the Terriers. His coach, Vandebilt’s Chad Menard, was one of 2 Coaches of the Year in Class 4A, sharing the honors with Lakeshore’s Boomer Nunez. Nunez has since resigned and is no longer at Lakeshore.

Also on the 4A list is Assumption pitcher Owen Simoneaux and Lutcher utility players Marshall Louque and Luke Babin, as well as Assumption’s Cole Simoneaux.

Local boy Cooper Martin also took All-State honors. Martin is from here but now plays for Lafayette Christian.

In Class 3A, the State Champion E.D. White Cardinals are well-represented with several players earning honors.

Matthew Melancon was named 3A Hitter of the Year, and Cardinals’ coach Matt Plitt was one of 3 Coaches of the Year for 3A.

Berwick also fared well with Hayden Robinson winning Pitcher of the Year and coach Seth Henry taking Co-Coach of the Year. Like Nunez, Henry has since resigned and is no longer at Berwick.

In 3A, also making All-State is E.D. White pitcher, Tyler Weimer, Cardinals’ outfielder Brendan Gaubert and Berwick’s Dawson Richard, a utility player.

In Class 1A, Central Catholic and CCA have representation on the All-State teams with infielder Caleb O’con earning All-State for Central Catholic and CCA’s J.T. Teuton earning a spot on the team as a DH.
