For the 2nd time this season, a local high school football game had to be called before completion due to a shooting.
Patterson and Donaldsonville were tied at 16 in the third quarter on Friday night when the game was called after shots were fired, striking 2 victims, leaving both in critical condition, according to reports.
Earlier this season, Thibodaux’s game with Hahnville was also called after shots were fired just off Thibodaux’s campus. This is the first time a shooting incident at a local game led to victims being shot by the gunfire.
It was Donaldsonville’s homecoming game.
The Ascension Parish School District confirmed the incident, releasing the following statement: “We want to inform you that an incident has taken place in close proximity to Floyd Boutte Stadium where the Donaldsonville High School homecoming game against Patterson High School was being hosted.”
