The Vandebilt volleyball team cruised into the Second Round of the Division III State Playoffs on Tuesday, scoring a straight sets win over Vinton.
The No. 6 Terriers had little trouble throughout the match, controlling the pace of the action, rolling to decisive set victories, 25-8, 25-10 and 25-7.
Neal Grace Berry had 9 kills, 7 digs and a block for Vandebilt in the win. Shay Sanders had 5 kills; Ella Rau had 8 digs and 3 aces and Mackenzie Glynn had 7 digs and 12 assists, and Ava Smith had 16 assists.
With the win, Vandebilt now moves to the Second Round where they will face the winner between No. 11 Lutcher and No. 22 Episcopal. The Terriers have faced Lutcher twice this season, scoring a pair of wins over the Bulldogs, but both matches were challenging. The Terriers beat Lutcher in the first week of the season in 2 competitive sets. They also beat Lutcher in recent weeks in 4 sets in a highly competitive and entertaining match.
The Terriers are now 33-9 on the year.
