Teams rolled into the New Year with some momentum on Saturday with games around the state.

Check out the results in this roundup:

Terrebonne 71, Lutcher 51 (boys)

At the CORE Holiday Invitational, Terrebonne rolled past Lutcher to improve to 2-1 on the week. The Tigers’ offense got rolling and overwhelmed the Bulldogs on the way to the comfortable victory.

Thibodaux 54, John Ehret 47 (boys)

The Tigers continue to improve, taking their 7th game of the season in a victory over John Ehret. The Tigers enter the New Year with momentum. They’re now 4-2 in their past 6 games heading into 2024.

South Lafourche 56, E.D. White 52 (boys)

In a bit of a shocker to close out the CORE Holiday Invitational, it was the 2-win Tarpons who became the 3-win Tarpons, scoring an upset win over the now-8-5 Cardinals. South Lafourche got balanced scoring with Meathead Dardar scoring a game-high 16 points. Nic Coleman added 14 and Terrance Pitre scored 11 in South Lafourche’s biggest win of the year to date.

Vandebilt 70, St. Thomas Aquinas 44 (boys)

The Terriers took 5th place at the Sunkist Shootout, scoring a lopsided win over St. Thomas Aquinas in Lafayette. Congratulations to Terriers sophomore standout Jayden Coleman who took home All-Tournament honors at the prestigious event.

Central Catholic 67, Berwick 35 (boys)

At the CORE Holiday Invitational, Central Catholic wrapped up the weekend in stride, scoring a dominant victory over their cross-town rivals to improve to 2-0 on the weekend. The Eagles played great defense and got shotmaking on the way to an easy win.

NOTE: We didn’t abandon the girls’ scoreboard. There were not any girls’ basketball results on Saturday.
