A South Lafourche High School graduate had maybe the best weekend of his young college baseball career to help his team.
Alcorn State infielder Ben Martin had a huge weekend for his team, posting a 6-for-10 weekend at the plate with an RBI and 3 extra-base hits.
Martin was peppering the ball all over the yard, finding the barrel with virtually every swing. He also drew 3 walks on the weekend.
Martin lifted his batting average for the season to .262 with the huge weekend. With the good plate discipline, Martin also has a .388 on-base percentage.
The former Tarpon has played well in his second season with Alcorn, showing his ability to hit and also be a steady glove at 2nd base for his team. Martin made several tough plays defensively on top of his big weekend at the plate.
