Last year, Houma Christian made it to Sulphur and lost in the Semifinals.

This year, they climbed that hurdle and will move further.

The Warriors beat St. Charles Catholic 5-3 on Friday afternoon, punching a ticket into the Division III Select State Finals where they will likely play against Calvary Baptist tomorrow. Calvary Baptist has a large lead in the late innings of their game.

The Warriors grabbed control of the game early, plating runs and putting pressure on the Comets, including with a towering 2-run home run from Hailey Henry to take the lead.

The Comets clawed back in the final inning, plating runs to inch closer. But Houma Christian slammed the door shut to seal the win and punch forward into the Championship Game.

Warriors coach Christi Crowdus said earlier this week that this year’s team was focused and she couldn’t be prouder of the girls for their hard work. She said she thought the team was ready to handle the elite competition and ready to play in Sulphur.
