A local baseball prospect has given his verbal pledge to John Melvin University.

CCA shortstop Tristan Rogers announced his commitment to the Crowley-based Christian university, adding another local player to the roster.

Rogers was CCA’s lone senior this past season, and was the team’s starting shortstop. He made an impact with both his bat and glove for a Lions team that made the Semifinals in Division IV Select.

Rogers will join a John Melvin roster that is loaded with local players. The team finished the season with a 36-13 record.

Rogers will join the team and will provide an immediate spark. CCA coach Joe Teuton said Rogers is a great leader and is a winner on and off the field. At CCA, Rogers was a multi-sport standout.
