A local pitching prospect continued his mammoth season on the diamond tonight, dominating an opponent to improve to 15-0 on the season.

Vandebilt graduate and LSU-Eunice pitcher Owen Schexnaydre was terrific tonight for the Bengals, working a complete game shutout in a 10-0 win over Pearl River.

The local product worked 6 shutout innings, striking out 7 and scattering 4 hits. For the season, Schexnaydre is now 15-0 on the season in 16 appearances (13 starts). He has worked 69 innings, allowing just 45 hits with 87 strikeouts. He has a 2.48 ERA on the season with a 0.91 WHIP.

Schexnaydre is a Louisiana Tech commitment who is going to continue his pitching career at the 4-year university beyond this season.

But for now, his eyes are set on helping Eunice – a team with a 51-7 record on the season.

“Big O,” as he’s known locally stands 6-foot, 5-inches and weighs 280 pounds. He has great velocity and commands his fastball early in the count to set up his offspeed stuff for his strikeout pitches.

He is expected to compete to be a weekend arm with Louisiana Tech next season.
