Assumption High School has their new boys’ basketball coach, hiring a local man with a rich pedigree to lead their program.
The Mustangs announced today that they have hired Thomas Clement to be their new coach. Clement will succeed Coach Henry Hollins, who led the program for the past few seasons.
Clement is a Thibodaux native who played for played for Clarendon College, then transferred to Nicholls to end his playing career. Most recently, Clement was the Director of Operations for the Nicholls men’s basketball team, having a hand in the Colonels finishing as the Southland Conference runners-up in the 2023-2024 season under coach Tevon Saddler.
This will be Clement’s first opportunity to be a head coach at the high school level, but he said he’s eager to get to work. Assumption struggled last season, but had a very young and talented roster. They are a team that could potentially have a quick turnaround.
“I’m honored to be named the next head coach,” Clement said. “Thank you Assumption for this opportunity. We’re off to the races.”
