Nicholls State University continues to try and keep the best local players home.
Vandebilt Catholic rising junior Tyanna Stewart announced on social media that she received a scholarship offer from the Colonels – her first Division I offer.
Stewart is a good one. She is a 5-foot, 10-inch guard who is athletic and extremely versatile. She is a two-way player and a player who has growing potential – rapidly getting better each season.
She will be a junior this coming season for the Terriers. She is also enjoying a big summer playing for Louisiana United. The offer is Stewart’s first at the D-1 level, but will likely not be her last.
For Nicholls, offering Stewart continues the school’s push to developing a local pipeline. Nicholls inked E.D. White standout Caroline Adams in the previous recruiting class, and they have Vandebilt senior Makayla Charles committed in the next.
Coach Justin Payne said it is his goal to keep local talent at home, and he wants to keep as many of the Bayou Region players in Thibodaux as possible.
The Colonels also have a committable offer out to Terriers’ standout Journee Johnson, as well.
