One of the top prep football players in the Bayou Region for the 2024 season has made his collegiate commitment.
CCA receiver Jahari Carter announced that he has committed to Arkansas-Monticello, picking the Boll Weevils a big commitment – continuing a pipeline from our area to Monticello.
In Carter, UAM is getting a good one. The CCA senior is a 5-foot, 10-inch, 180-pound slot receiver who is explosive and capable of taking the ball to the house on any given play.
Carter sat out last season after transferring from Ellender. This year, he figures to be a huge piece in a CCA offense that hopes to make massive strides after advancing to the second round of the Division IV Select State Playoffs in 2023 in coach Jesse Turner’s first season with the team.
The standout is explosive, but also strong, capable of both running by, but also running through defenders. He has a 245-pound bench and a 400-pound squat.
Carter announced the news at a celebration with family and friends. The group roared in applause as he announced the news. But while UAM is getting a quality athlete on the playing fields, they’re also getting a quality student-athlete off it.
Carter is an excellent student who excels in the classroom. He boasts a 23 ACT score and holds a 3.7 GPA in the classroom.
UAM is a 4-year NCAA Division II program. The team is coached by Hud Jackson, who is an E.D. White graduate who also spent time at Assumption and Central Catholic as a coach.
In Jackson’s time as the head coach at UAM, they have recruited our area heavily, having several locals on their current roster.
