A Vandebilt Catholic softball pitcher continues to have a stellar summer – recently named the National Pitcher of the Week, according to a prestigious organization.
Abby Aguillard, a soon-to-be sophomore with the Terriers took home Pitcher of the Week, as handed down by Extra Inning Softball, which recognized her for her dominant work in the circle in recent weeks.
Aguillard recently was named 1st-Team All-Tournament at the USA 16U Gold National Tournament in Oklahoma City, joining fellow local and CCA standout Bella Trosclair who also earned the honor. Aguillard’s Vandebilt teammate, Lexi Matherne also played in the event, as well.
For Aguillard, earning Pitcher of the Week is a continuation of what has been a dominant summer. At the USA 16U Gold National Tournament, she was excellent in helping lead her team, logging several dominant innings, while also showing leadership both on the field and off it for her team.
Earlier this summer, Aguillard also was named as a nationally ranked pitcher for the Class of 2027. She was awarded All-Regional First-Team Southwest Region earlier this travel ball season. That region consists of Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Arizona for Extra Inning Softball. In addition, she was also ranked in the 2027 Elite 100 Pitchers at No. 74 for the country.
