A veteran baseball coach is joining the staff at CCA for the 2025 season.

Coach Joe Teuton announced this weekend in a radio interview that he’s hired former Houma Christian School coach Butch Theriot to be an assistant coach on his staff – adding a bright baseball mind to an already-loaded locker room of players and coaches.

Theriot is a veteran coach with extensive experience. He was most recently the head baseball coach and athletic director at Houma Christian School. He was relieved of his duties just before the start of the 2024 baseball season and sat out the last year from coaching.

Teuton said that in 2025, Theriot will bring his extensive expertise to the team’s locker room – especially to the Lions’ pitching staff. CCA is loaded with pitchers and will return every, single varsity inning that pitched in 2024 when the team made it to Sulphur. Theriot specializes in working with pitchers and getting the most of them. Teuton said having Theriot’s knowledge on the staff will be a huge coup and will go a long way in helping the Lions take the next leap forward and winning the Division IV Select State Championship.

Teuton said the Lions are working hard this summer and so many of the team’s players made strides with their respective travel baseball organizations. Teuton said openly that if the team does not reach Sulphur in 2025, that it would be considered a disappointment, but internally, the team wants to push a step farther and win the State Championship.
