Covenant Christian Academy is having a historic football season this fall – still unbeaten after 7 games.
On Friday night, the vibes were a little extra positive with the school’s annual Homecoming Celebration.
CCA celebrated Homecoming this weekend with the festivities beginning Friday night with a football win over Hanson Memorial, then continuing into the weekend with the annual dance.
Shelby Stoddard is CCA’s 2024 Homecoming Queen. She is the daughter of Jason and Jaime Stoddard. Shelby is an exceptional student with a 4.0 GPA and a 3-year member of the National Honor Society, serving as the President. She is a 6-year member of the Beta Club and a 2-year contributor to the yearbook club, serving as a photographer and editor.
Shelby is a 4-year member of CCA’s varsity cheerleading squad – a 2-time All-American selection on that team. By earning those honors, she had earned opportunities to perform in Walt Disney World for the Varsity Spirit Spectacular. Shelby also represented CCA as a selected member of the American Legion Auxiliary for Louisiana Girls State at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.
In addition to her role with the cheer squad, Shelby is also a student-athlete with the CCA track team, which she has competed with for the past 3 years. Post-graduation, Shelby plans to attend UL-Lafayette, majoring in health sciences with aspirations of becoming a physical therapist.
Stoddard was honored on Homecoming Friday. On Saturday, CCA crowned their Homecoming King with Carsen Hebert winning the honor.
Carsen is the son of Travis and Holly Hebert. He has been a multi-year student-athlete at CCA who has contributed to varsity sports at the school since 7th grade.
Carsen is a 5-year member of the football team, earning multiple All-District, All-Region and All-State honors. He also has been a member of the varsity soccer team for 6 seasons, earning All-District, All-Region and All-State accolades, as early as his freshman season.
Carsen is also a standout performer on CCA’s baseball team, again earning All-District, All-Region and All-State honors, including District MVP honors.
Following graduation, Carsen is deciding between scholarship offers for baseball or football. He also has aspirations to possibly attend Nicholls to pursue a degree in business administration.
Congratulations to both Shelby and Carsen.
