The seasons have shifted and it’s time to give out some Winter Sports Gengators Power Players of the Week.
We still have some football teams alive, so we might jump back to football next week, but for now, let’s take a trip to the hardwood, including a repeat winner.

GENGATORZ GIRLS’ POWER PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Heshia Brown, Central Lafourche – Brown is one of the best players in our area on the girls’ basketball side. She is the heart and soul of a Central Lafourche team that is hopeful to play some good basketball this season. Last week, she was the team’s leading scorer in the jamboree and coach Tora Danos said Brown will be among the top players in our local Class 5A district.
GENGATORZ BOYS’ POWER PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Terrance Pitre, South Lafourche – So much for football rust. In the jamboree last week, Pitre shook off about 4-5 minutes of rust, but then took over the game in South Lafourche’s win over Central Lafourche, scoring 18 points in a 20-minute game. Pitre controlled the game and scored in all 3 levels to get his junior season started off on the right foot.
