Vandebilt Catholic standout guard Jordan Matthews scored 40+ points in the first game of his senior season – a performance so strong that it netted him a major scholarship offer from our area’s local Division I School.
Matthews announced on social media that he has received a scholarship offer from Nicholls, a major coup for the local standout.
Matthews is well worth the offer. He is the two-time district MVP in our local 4A district – a player who scores with ease in all 3 levels for a Terriers team that has been a contender throughout his entire career.
In the first game of his senior season, Matthews took it to another level, dominating the game throughout, scoring 42 points to power the Terriers to the easy win.
Matthews is a relentless worker and a great teammate, according to Vandebilt coach Leon Veal. He said that Matthews is a gym rat and a pleasure to coach.
For Matthews to get an offer from Nicholls is a huge feather in his cap. The Colonels have very heavily recruited the transfer portal under coach Tevon Saddler. To give an offer to a high school player shows a huge vote of confidence from the Colonels’ staff that they believe Matthews could be an impact player.
