Usually, picking Gengatorz Power Players of the Week is a long, tedious process that involves us compiling tons of stats and using our judgment to pick which players shined the brightest in the past week.
Yeah, this week, it wasn’t difficult for either the boys or the girls.
We had two sensational performances this week, which made this week’s Power Player of the Week easy to hand out.

Gengatorz Boys’ Power Player of the Week – Jordan Matthews, Vandebilt Catholic – There’s a pretty real chance that Matthews is going to be winning this award a lot this winter. The Terriers’ standout forward is averaging well over 30 points per game so far this season for the Terriers and had several huge games at the Terriers’ home tournament to take home Gengatorz Power Player of the Week honors again. Kid is special.
Gengatorz Girls’ Power Player of the Week – Kennedy Mahoney, Houma Jr. High – It’s a performance that will probably be unrivaled this season at any level. But in a 24-minute game, Mahoney scored 49 points and logged a triple-double in a lopsided Houma Jr. High School win, helping the team earn the Thibodaux Middle School Tournament Title. Look out for her next season as an instant impact player at the prep level.
