With Christmas, it was hard to hand out Gengatorz Power Players of the Week mid-week like we love to do.
But with some back-loaded action this week, we were able to find two worthwhile picks.
This week, we honor red-hot basketball players both on teams on winning streaks. Let’s roll.
GENGATORZ BOYS’ POWER PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jamyre Bias, Morgan City High School – The best player locally that a lot of people are just getting wind of is Morgan City standout Jamyre Bias. In a win last night over South Terrebonne, Bias had 40+ points, and he followed that up with 20 more in a win over Central Catholic for a Tigers team that is 9-7 and has won now 5 games in a row.
GENGATORZ GIRLS’ POWER PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Khi Johnson, H.L. Bourgeois – There is no stat stuffer locally doing more right now than Lady Braves’ guard Khi Johnson. The H.L. Bourgeois guard has recently had a 30-point game in a win, and also several double-doubles with the ability to go over 10 in points, rebounds, assists and steals on any given game for an H.L. Bourgeois team that is smoking hot right now and is sitting at 11-5 with now 7-straight wins.
