The South Lafourche boys’ basketball team is one of the best stories in our area – a group that has already exceeded last season’s win total with a 14-1 record.
But as much as the Tarpons win on the floor, they are winning equally off it, fighting each day alongside a community member who is going through a rough time.
Cole Trosclair is a local who loves his Tarpons. Trosclair was recently diagnosed with one of the rarest forms of cancer – a type that has only been diagnosed 200 times since 1989.
Trosclair is about to begin his fight at M.D. Anderson, but since his diagnosis, he has attended several South Lafourche games and has eagerly rooted on his beloved high school throughout their successes.
And the Tarpons have taken notice.
As Cole’s upcoming fight has spread around the community through social media, the Tarpons have adopted the local as one of their own. Trosclair is the first cousin of South Lafourche senior Peyton Hebert and the team got together recently to welcome Trosclair into the locker room before a game, while also signing a basketball to give to him as he begins his fight.
Trosclair and family also attended the team’s recent game at Central Catholic and the Tarpon fan sat with Coach Keagan Polkey before the game and the two talked basketball before the South Lafourche win.
The South Lafourche community would like to invite the entire Bayou Region to support Cole in his fight.
