The Central Lafourche girls’ soccer team’s magical ride has ended 2 wins short of the State Championship.
The Trojans fell to St. Thomas More 4-0 on Saturday afternoon in the Semifinals of the Division II State Semifinals.
The Trojans had an amazing season, but were never able to find their footing against St. Thomas More with the Cougars controlling possession and being on the attack throughout the match, taking an early lead and never looking back on the way to the win.
With the victory, St. Thomas More moves to the State Finals where they will face No. 2 St. Scholastica.
The Trojans were the last public school team still competing in the bracket. The LHSAA splits several sports, but soccer is not one of those sports.
The Trojans were just one of two non-select schools out of 32 to make the soccer semifinals, which is an amazing honor in a sport so heavily dominated by select school teams.
