A local girls’ basketball standout has picked up her first official collegiate scholarship – what will likely be the first of many.
E.D. White 8th grader Imerii Ingram got an official offer from Nicholls State University on Monday night, the first offer of her career.
It is somewhat unheard of for an 8th grader to even be on the radar of colleges. But Ingram has earned her keep and more with an All-District season as the Cardinals’ starting point guard in just the 8th grade.
Ingram has gotten better and better as the season has gone on, including last night when she scored 29 points in her playoff debut, helping lead E.D. White past Istrouma.
In addition to her work on the floor for E.D. White, Ingram has competed around the country on the AAU circuit and also at elite camps around the country, always favorably showcasing her talent against the best players in the country for her age.
Ingram’s father, Carlton Ingram, confirmed the offer last night and said it is a great honor for the family to have his daughter receiving collegiate interest.
Ingram and the Cardinals will continue their playoff journey on Thursday against No. 5 Madison Prep with the winner going to the LHSAA Top 28.
Ingram’s offer continues a trend of Nicholls working hard to keep the best players home.
E.D. White graduate Caroline Adams signed with the Colonels last offseason with Vandebilt senior sensation Makayla Charles set to do the same. The Colonels also have outstanding offers to Vandebilt standout Journee Johnson and others in the area as coach Justin Payne works to try and keep the best local players home.
