It was a bright showing from local track and field athletes at the LHSAA Indoor State Championship Meet.
The meet was held at LSU this past weekend and three locals won State Championships with many others placing in the Top 5.
In the Division I Boys’ Shot Put, Central Lafourche standout Kaden Adams added another trophy to his trophy case, taking gold with a throw of 58-feet, 6.25-inches, outlasting the competition. Adams has either won or medaled now multiple times in his decorated track and field career. He looks forward to repeating that trick in the spring during the outdoor season.
In Division I Girls’ High Jump, John Curtis Christian School standout and local product Addilyn Dufrene took home first in the high jump with a 5-foot, 5-inch leap.
Dufrene, a Cut Off native, and a junior at Curtis, has been a dominant performer on the track since her middle school days when she re-wrote the record books at LCO. Like Adams, she too is a multi-time podium earner in her career.
In Divsion II Boys’ High Jump, Rafi Cuartas, of Houma Christian School, took gold, logging a leap of 6-feet, 2.75 inches. Cuartas is a tremendous athlete and a multi-sport standout for Houma Christian. He outjumped the competition to secure the title.
