A standout local basketball player with ties to Ellender Memorial is set to hit the NCAA’s transfer portal.
Forward Dionjahe Thomas is entering the portal after a solid sophomore season at Southern.
The 6-foot, 8-inch standout averaged 6.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in his lone season with the Jaguars, including a 12-point and 13-rebounds per game double-double in the team’s SWAC Tournament loss to Grambling.
Thomas started his prep career at Ellender and was a force. He then graduated from prep school in Texas before signing with McNeese where he spent the first two seasons of his career. He transferred from the Cowboys to Southern this past season and got the most collegiate playing time of his career.
He will have 2 seasons remaining of eligibility for the remainder of his collegiate career.
