Another Nicholls basketball starter is in the NCAA’s transfer portal.
Junior guard Michael Gray entered the portal today, dealing a stiff gut-punch to the Colonels.
Gray was arguably the Colonels’ top player for most of the season. In the month of February, Gray scored 19 or more points in every game and was dominant, making several huge plays late in games to carry the Colonels, including a 20-point showing in a win over McNeese – the only Southland loss the Cowboys took this season.
Gray transferred to Nicholls before the 2023-2024 season and made an impact. He started his sophomore season out of the rotation, but gradually clawed his way up the ladder to become a guy that made a big impact last season. This year, he was a rotation mainstay and was a key cog throughout conference play.
The Colonels will have a new-look roster in 2025-2026 with Gray and Rob Brown both in the portal and Jamal West graduated.
