Vandebilt has gone local with its next head volleyball coach, hiring one of the most decorated players in our area.
The school announced today that Thibodaux native Lila Bordis will be the team’s new coach, taking over the program that has been led by Latashia Wise-Jackson for the past 2 seasons with immense success.
Bordis graduated E.D. White in 2020 and was a 5-year volleyball standout, earning All-State, All-Region MVP and Player of the Year honors in 2019. She also was a letter winner in basketball and an exceptional student, earning a spot on the Dean’s List.
After her decorated prep career, Bordis played beach volleyball at Arizona State from 2020-2022 before transferring to Georgia State.
Bordis was a standout at Georgia State, helping the team earn back-to-back Sun Belt Conference Championships, while making two NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship appearances. Bordis earned Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year in 2023 and was a Beach Volleyball All-Sun Belt Conference First Team performer in 2024.
Bordis will be taking over a program that has enjoyed success. The Terriers are a mainstay at the State Tournament and are one of the top teams in the area.
Bordis said she is eager and excited to make her imprint on the program.
“I am deeply committed to fostering a positive team culture centered on growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship,” she said. “I look forward to helping these talented young women achieve their personal and athletic goals while building a competitive and high-performing program.”
Bordis has coached at RISE, and in that time working with youth, she has worked hard to build confidence and skill in kids, and she said she is excited to continue to push the Terriers’ program forward.
Vandebilt Athletic Director Kayla Vicknair said she believes Bordis will do an amazing job with the Terriers in the future.
“I am excited to welcome Coach Bordis to the Vandebilt Catholic family,” she said. “Not only is she a proven winner as a player and leader, but her commitment to her faith and desire to help young athletes grow on and off the court make her a perfect fit for our school. She will be an incredible role model for our students.”
Vandebilt also wanted to thank Coach Wise-Jackson for her time in the past 2 seasons, while wishing her the best as she takes over St. Michael in Baton Rouge.
