The Nicholls softball team continues to soar.
The Colonels won their 12th-straight game on Wednesday, scoring a 10-0 mercy rule win over Houston Christian to sweep the rare midweek Southland series.
The Colonels have been dominant in recent weeks. They started the season 10-20, but have caught fire with 12-straight wins, including Southland sweeps in now 3-straight Southland series, moving the team from 3-6 in conference play up to 12-6.
Nicholls’ pitching dominated the three-game series with HCU, giving up just 1 run in the 3 games. Molly Yoo spun a complete game shutout on Wednesday – her second complete game win of the series. She did the same in Game 1.
Molly VandenBout and Averi Paden combined to give up just 1 run in Game 2.
With the run, Nicholls is now in a tie for third in the Southland, but sits just 2 games out of 1st.
Nicholls will travel to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi this weekend with a chance to stay hot. The Islanders are just 3-14 in the league and have lost 8 games in a row.
