The angels in the sky were smiling bright at Eddie Blanchard Field on Monday.
In the final game and final at-bat of South Lafourche senior slugger Jack Ledet’s career, he got a ball he could hit and he crushed it, hitting a long, towering home run over the right field fence in a South Lafourche win.
The homer was special for Ledet because it was his final game. But it also had extra spiritual meaning.
The home run flew out to right field. It flew just over the sign on the outfield fence in honor of the late Roman Robichaux, who was Ledet’s close friend and teammate growing up.
Ledet smiled and gave a wink to his family as he rounded third and headed for home, knowing that he had a little extra angel power helping him with the swing.
Ledet had an amazing season for South Lafourche, getting 40 hits, scoring 40 runs and plating 40+ RBI.
Ledet is a signee of Delgado.
