The Bayou Bully is officially staying home.
Vandebilt Catholic senior standout Makayla Charles shared on social media today that she has officially signed with Nicholls State University, giving the Colonels another big high school signee.
Charles was a dominant force at Vandebilt, dominating the area for 4 seasons, including winning the Division II Select State Championship Game MVP in the final game of her career.
She received an offer from the Colonels last year and committed. She stuck to her commitment and signed, joining E.D. White standout Caroline Adam’s in giving Nicholls a local commitment on the women’s basketball team for a second-straight season.
The Colonels also have outstanding offers to several other local prospects, including South Lafourche’s Nyla Lyons, E.D. White’s Immi Ingram, Vandebilt’s Journee Johnson and others.
Charles was a multi-time All-District standout, a multi-time All-Region standout and a State Championship Game MVP, among countless honors.
She will hope to make an impact with the Colonels in the same way she did the Terriers.
