It is presumed that a state fishing record was broken this week on Grand Isle.
Bridge Side Marina reported on their social media page this week that it is assumed that a state record has been set for Cubera Snapper, a fish that was caught off the fertile Gulf waters off the island’s shore.
Brandon Priest brought in the fish, which weighed 110.14 pounds at the time of its weighing.
That fish is greater than the state record for free diving. It is pending approval. If approved, the record would be adjusted and reset to account for Priest’s apparent place in history.
