One of our area’s schools will be adding a sport to their athletic calendar.
Assumption High School announced this week that they have been LHSAA approved for their first-ever varsity soccer team, a team which will begin competing in the 2025-2026 year.
The school announced that with that, they are also going to be starting the process of hiring its inaugural soccer coach, a search which is going to be conducted in the upcoming weeks.
The Mustangs are one of the few local schools to not have a soccer team. The sport has grown immensely in recent years, but there still are several schools in the state that do not have teams – enough that the LHSAA is unable to split the sport for postseason because of a lack of numbers to support it.
The Mustangs will be joining the other schools in our area in competing on the soccer pitch.
