This week for our Gengatorz Power Players of the Week, we dive head first into the LHSAA State Track and Field Meet where we award two local gold medalists who had big showings for their schools and our community.
GENGATORZ BOYS’ POWER PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Markus Thomas – Ellender Memorial – It was a 2-medal day for Thomas at the State Meet, taking Gold in the 110-meter hurdles, outlasting the competition, while also taking a bronze in the 300-meter hurdles. Thomas has had an amazing season, and this was the coming out party for him to get on the podium twice and establish himself as a new member of the local State Championship Club.
GENGATORZ GIRLS’ POWER PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Addison Dufrene, John Curtis – What can ‘ya say about Addilyn Dufrene? The John Curtis high jumper capped an amazing junior season with another State Championship Gold, while also posting a PR and one of the Top 100 prep jumps in the country this year. Dufrene has been amazing throughout her career and she did this weekend what she has done throughout her career – rose to the occasion in the biggest moments to take home another gold for her collection.
