The undefeated season for CCA ended in Sulphur in the Semifinals of the Division IV Select State Playoffs.

Ouachita Christian beat CCA 12-7 on Tuesday, moving to the finals, while ending CCA’s season with a 36-1 record.

It just was not CCA’s day.

The Lions had miscue after miscue, scoring a run in the bottom of the 1st inning, but were unable to get more because of a couple baserunning miscues and then an ejection to catcher Peyton Trosclair, who made contact with the Eagles’ catcher heading to home.

Ouachita took the lead after the ejection in the top of the 2nd with a big rally, going up as many as 8-1 in the middle innings.

The Lions made rallies and had 11 hits, but every time they got close, Ouachita Christian stretched the lead out.

Reed Smalling had a 4-hit and 4-RBI day. The Eagles also had other big hits throughout their order.

CCA got a solo home run from Mason Canter in the late innings and loaded the bases in the bottom 7, but the Lions weren’t able to break through fully to get all the way back, allowing the Eagles to push to the finals.
