Teurlings jumps on E.D. White early, roars to State Title

Teurlings Catholic tasted their own blood yesterday. They didn’t like it.

Today, they were the one doing most of the damage, riding all the way to the Division II Select State Championship.

The Rebels defended their No. 1 ranking in style today, posting a 14-3 win over E.D. White in Game 3 of the Best of 3 series between the teams.

In Game 1, Teurlings posted big offense via 12 walks and 2 hit batters. Today, the Cardinals threw strikes, but just got hit with Teurlings hammering the ball consistently throughout the game and throughout their lineup.

The Rebels batted around in the first and second innings and took a lead that they would never relinquish before roaring to the title.

For Teurlings, it was all jubilation, but for E.D. White, the mood was not the same as the Cardinals finished one win short of their ultimate goal.

But coach Matt Plitt said before Saturday’s game that no matter how the season ended, he was proud of his team.

E.D. White started the season 0-5, 2-8, then 4-10. They overcame that early adversity to roar through the playoffs and get to the finals, then do something no one else has done this postseason: beat Teurlings in a game.

But on Saturday, it was just not the Cardinals’ day with the Rebels launching an offensive onslaught and riding to the title.
