Ellender Memorial has announces its new Powerlifting Coach.

The school announced yesterday on social media that Heather Martin will be the team’s new coach, looking to build the program and take it to new heights. Powerlifting is not a new sport, but it is a growing sport in our area with most of the schools in the Bayou Region either seeing a resurgence in recent years and/or starting up their programs.

Martin has 9 years of coaching experience and has certifications from both the LHSAA and USPA. She has a bright background as both a bodybuilder and also a powerlifter and she will bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to the weight room.

Martin has been very passionate and dedicated to strength and conditioning since her own high school days and she currently coaches weights and conditioning for the girls on the campus.

The school said in a news release that her experience, drive and leadership make her perfect for the position and will allow Ellender Powerlifting to go to the next level.
