One of the top girls’ basketball players in the state and in our area is now into double-digits when it comes to her committable scholarship offers.
Vandebilt soon-to-be senior Journee Johnson announced on social media this week that she received an offer from Lamar – adding to a rapidly growing list that sits in double digits.
Johnson 6-foot guard/forward.
She is on recruiting boards because of her elite athleticism and versatility. Johnson can shoot and score the ball from all 3 levels, but she is an incredibly versatile defender who has the ability to guard just about every position on the floor with a long, but slender frame and elite athleticism, jumping ability and quickness.
Johnson was part of Vandebilt’s 2024-2025 State Championship Team – a team which is now becoming a factory for college talent.
Makayla Charles signed with Nicholls after her senior season. Her teammate, Tyanna Stewart, committed to Nicholls this past week.
Johnson has offers from programs all over the country with another full season of games to play and another summer on the AAU circuit to try and generate interest.
