LSU freshman sensation Derek Curiel had new walkup music in the College World Series.
Not by design.
Because the NCAA nixed his song he had the entire season.
Curiel has been coming out to ‘God Is,’ by Kanye West all season. The lyrics of that song include phrases like:
“Everything that has breath, praise the LordWorship Christ with the best of your portionsI know I won’t forget all He’s doneHe’s the strength in this race that I run.”
and
“And I know, I know God is the force that picked me upI know Christ is the fountain that filled my cupI know God is alive, yeahHe has opened up my vision giving me a revelation.”
Curiel said he was disappointed that the NCAA did not let him use the music, adding that he is a baseball player who loves Jesus and is not afraid to show it.
The NCAA reportedly has a ban on all Kanye West songs, but they did not ban Curiel from using the song at its NCAA Regional, nor Super Regional Tournaments, which has one wondering why they didn’t allow him to use it in Omaha.
Curiel was one of the best players in the country this season, despite being just a true freshman.
