The bats went cold at the wrong time for the Southland Hogs on Wednesday at the American Legion Louisiana State Championship Game.

The Hogs fell 6-0 to the Bossier Phillies in the finals of the State Tournament, a tough end for the local boys who are comprised of high school seniors and even a few college freshmen from around our area.

The bats just were never able to get hot for the Hogs on Wednesday.

Brody Bower, a Bossier Parish Community College pitcher, was lights out on the mound, working a complete game shutout to stymie the Hogs. He allowed just 5 hits in the game, striking out 8 with no walks.

Peyton Trosclair went 2-for-3 for the Hogs.

The Phillies got an early run in the 1st, then quietly tacked on runs throughout to take control of the game and give Bower plenty enough run support to get the win.

Hogs coach Joe Teuton said he is proud of his group for their hard work this summer. He said the boys were dedicated and did everything asked of them. The ball this go-round just didn’t bounce the team’s way when it mattered most in the last game.
