An Ellender graduate and NFL player is going to get his chance to catch balls from JD5 this fall.
Patriots graduate turned professional football player Tay Martin signed a free agent contract this week with the Washington Commanders – giving him a chance to try and make the team with a playoff contender in the NFL.
Martin has bounced around a bit in his NFL career with stints with the San Francisco 49ers and also the Tennessee Titans last season. With Tennessee, Martin got his first shot to shine, catching a deep touchdown pass late in the season last year to give him his first NFL touchdown.
After last season, Martin was a free agent and he strategically picked Washington despite camp interest from other teams because of a contract dispute between the team and Terry McLaurin, who is trying to secure either a trade or a new deal.
With McLaurin out and depth thin at receiver, Martin could use his reps to try and earn a spot in Washington’s offense.
