The E.D. White and LSU product made his MLB debut on Tuesday night and was sparkling, working 2 scoreless innings for the Pirates in his MLB debut.
With his parents and close family watching, Sanders calmly took the rubber in the 8th inning and was solid, working 2 scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts against the San Francisco Giants.
Sanders, 28, recorded a pair of strikeouts in the 8th, then pitched to contact for his outs in the 9th.
His fastball sat in the upper 90s throughout the outing.
He also showed his wicked offspeed pitch that has allowed him to keep opponents to just around a .150 batting average against this season.
Commentators on the television broadcast commented that they really liked Sanders’ stuff and that the team was impressed with his makeup as well. Sanders has MLB blood. His father, Scott Sanders, pitched several years in the Major Leagues after a standout career at Nicholls.
