Nicholls State University has agreed to a long-term contract extension with its men’s basketball coach.
Athletic Director Jonathan Terrell announced today that basketball coach Tevon Saddler has signed a contract extension through 2030.
Saddler has been Nicholls’ coach for 2 seasons and the Colonels have enjoyed success, finishing in the upper-half of the Southland Conference in both seasons.
“Coach Tevon Saddler has brought tremendous energy, leadership, and vision to our men’s basketball program,” Terrell said. “His commitment to developing our student-athletes, building a winning culture, and representing Nicholls with pride has been evident from day one. We are excited to extend his contract and continue building on the momentum he has created over the past two seasons.”
Saddler will be entering his third season as Nicholls coach.
Saddler has had back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in school history.
Nicholls won 13 Southland games in both of his seasons to finish 3rd in the standings before going to the Southland Championship in 2023. They made the Semifinals last year.
Saddler has logged wins over LSU and UL-Lafayette in his tenure.
He said he is grateful to Athletic Director Jonathan Terrell for his support.
“I am incredibly grateful to Athletic Director Jonathan Terrell and President Dr. Jay Clune for their continued belief in me and the vision we have for Nicholls Basketball,” Saddler said. “To have my contract extended is a tremendous honor, and I am excited to keep building on our momentum. This extension reflects the commitment this university has to our student-athletes and to building a championship program. I look forward to continuing to lead this team, represent our community, and work every day to elevate Nicholls Basketball.”
