For years, 7-year-old Tripp Terrebonne wanted a lemonade stand.
Not knowing if he could handle the responsibility of it all, his parents pushed back – until this summer.
And when they did, a story of community fellowship and now also philanthropy is the byproduct of the boy’s work.
Terrebonne opened his stand this summer and the community rallied around his cause, giving him constant business throughout the day.
Fire District 3 went, members of the South Lafourche football team went and in total, the boy served hundreds of cups and was kept busy with a hard days work.
When it was done, Tripp could have taken his profits and done with them as he pleases.
But instead, he found a heart for giving back.
As Tripp’s parents sat down and explained to him why his stand had success – because of the community rallying behind his cause – the boy bought into donating the money back to those who supported him.
He is an avid fan of South Lafourche football and wanted to pay it forward.
The family contacted Marla Cooper with the South Lafourche High School Quarterback Club, who worked hard to give the young boy a special moment.
Tripp was honored at a Quarterback Club meeting where he presented his donation to the team. The team, in return, gave him a signed football. They also welcomed him to the sidelines of their recent intrasquad scrimmage.
Tripp’s mother, Lexie Terrebonne, said she could not be prouder of her son, but also more thankful to our community for making her boy feel special and giving him a memory that will last a lifetime.
“The community did it again,” she told By-U Sports. “Like I stated in my Facebook post- it may not be a lot of money, but the lesson this whole experience has taught Tripp will last a lifetime.”
