The 2025 high school football season is getting close.
As we get ourselves ready for the Friday Night Lights, we are going to do a season preview on ALL of our local teams.
So let’s dive in. We are done with Lafourche. Now, it’s time to jump to Terrebonne. We’ve done a few, but now it’s time to dive into Vandebilt.

VANDEBILT TERRIERS
2024 record: 10-3
Head coach: Brian Wallace
High Point of 2024: The Consistency: Vandebilt was good last year. They were just a couple bounces of the football away from beating E.D. White in the Quarterfinals, a which almost ended up winning the Division II State Championship. The Terriers played hard every week and set a standard in Coach Wallace’s first season.
Low Point of 2024: The Ending: My friends at Vandebilt will be very quick to tell you that they believe they deserved to beat E.D. White last year in the State Playoffs. The Terriers played hard, had a couple bad breaks and a long pass in the end zone was ruled incomplete but it very well could have been called a touchdown that would have drastically changed the game. That was a massive heartbreaker.
Key Returnees: Quarterback Ethan Heney, offensive lineman Philip Cenac, defensive back Jayden Calloway, linebacker Xabien Moses, and several others
Breakout player: Playmaker Jayden Coleman – No, not Jaylon Coleman who is off making his mark at Liberty on the collegiate level, but Jayden Coleman is out with the football team for the first time in his career and there’s just no way an athlete that good is not going to make an impact someway and somehow in 2025. He’s too big and strong to not be a player.
Key to 2025: Explosiveness – There’s no more walking cheat code for Vandebilt in 2025. Jaylon Coleman was a one play ticking time bomb for opposing defenses. On any given snap, he could take one 80+ yards to the house. He’s gone and playing on Saturdays and frankly, Coach Wallace has said he has not liked the inconsistency of his offense so far in the preseason. Who will provide that spark the Terriers need?
Casey’s Call: Vandebilt is going to be a good football team. But it might take a minute for them to get there because they have so many different pieces in the lineup this year versus last. They have a good coaching staff and a solid roster. Give it time, but the Terriers are going to be OK before long and will likely peak at the right time.
