Nicholls State University’s men’s basketball team is bringing a local home.

Coach Tevon Saddler announced today that Thibodaux native Kevin Johnson has been hired as the program’s Director of Player Development – a big coup for the Colonels program.

Johnson is an E.D. White graduate who was a multi-year standout for the Colonels. He transferred and played one season at another program in his senior season.

Johnson also played professional basketball overseas and will now return home to work with the team’s players to try and enhance their skills.

The Colonels are looking to continue to build. They have been in the upper half of the Southland Conference standings in the past few seasons, but have not been able to breakthrough and win the league and make the NCAA Tournament.

Johnson was one of the Nicholls greats. He had 1,000+ career points and was a program leader in assists and steals as well.
