One of the best to ever play at Vandebilt Catholic is going to get his place in school history.
The school announced today that longtime standout running back Elijah McGuire will have his jersey retired at the team’s October 3 game against Lutcher.
McGuire was a multi-year standout at Vandebilt – one of the top players in the state of Louisiana when he was at the prep level.
McGuire had a dominant career, leading the team to the LHSAA State Quarterfinals in his senior season. He then went on to have a dominant career at UL-Lafayette before then playing multiple seasons in the NFL, including winning a Super Bowl with the Chiefs.
McGuire will be on hand at the game and his No. 15 will never be worn again in Vandebilt history.
The Terriers are 3-0 on the season and will be facing a huge challenge in Lutcher. The Terriers are inviting the community out to support McGuire and also their team on that October 3 date.
